you mean SV can expire? Damn. Why? It costs the govt nothing. Parents cannot work. Parents pay for healthcare themselves. So why can't they just let the parents stay long term till they pass on?
Rob, can you explain why SV has expiry date and needs to be renewed?
SV is one kind of TRV, of course there is expiry, it will not go beyond the expiry of the passport, the parent can not renew SV, if they are in Canada, they can apply for EXTENSION of stay, if denied, then go back to your home country and apply SV again!

Depends on the applicant, for example,
1. if the initial entry is for 2 years, IMO, they can not extend this, they have to go back to their home country, if the SV is still valid, they can come back to Canada, if SV is expired, apply SV again.
2. if the initial entry is for 1 year or 6 months, they can apply for extension up to 2 years, IRCC MAY approve 2 years or less.
Congratulations! I am so happy for you. I hope things turn out really well for your wife and your inlaws. It is an amazing opportunity to have been selected which many here would be willing to pay many thousand dollars to have.
Wish you all the best! Hope you don't let your opportunity go to waste! When you submitted the interest to sponsor there was a section that spelled out how much you need for each Financial Years LICO which you had to tick yes in order to submit your interest to sponsor. Did you tick yes?
Yes there was the section for LICO...I should have checked my NOA before submitting the interest to sponsor. I changed my job in late 2015 and I thought my income will be sufficient as I roughly calculated my income but should have checked NOA. My wife is a full time student since 2015 and she does some part time work as well but didn't realize she only started working in 2016 not 2015
If you think about it, it's just a lottery for health care coverage which works out to about maybe $1m or $2m for two parents.
You can also buy Lotto 649. Top prize is usually more than that. The minimum price of a ticket is $3.
Lotto Max is the other big one.
Many lotteries in Canada. Worth trying. Seriously I would rather win one of these Lotto lotteries than the PGP lottery. With the money I can get my parents here on supervisa buy the mandatory insurance and set aside $2m for their healthcare and still have lots of $$ to spare!

For same reason any visitor status expires for anyone. Supervisa is just a glorified multi-entry TRV. It is not meant to have parents live in Canada permanently, it's still considered a temporary visa.
If you didn't meet the 2015 income requirements, then why did you enter the lottery in the first place??
If you don't meet income even by $1, you don't qualify and your app will end up being rejected. You definitely don't qualify to sponsor your own parents if selected in 2nd round since that would increase your family size by +2 more.
Amazing that with the rules and income requirements so clearly displayed this time around, ineligible people still applied.
As I was explaining to nayr69sg I should have checked my NOA before submitting the interest. So there's no point of applying for the sponsorship? How strict are they regarding the 2015 income instead of checking recent 2017 or 2016 income?

As I said, if you are even $1 off your app will be rejected.
Rules are rules, there is no discretion from visa officers in this, you either meet the income amounts or you don't.

Your application will be rejected if you don’t meet the income requirement for any of the 3 years. And when your case is in process, you cannot submit another application for the same people being sponsored for the following years until your case is closed.
