Two questions:
1. My daughter was not selected as a sponsor for 2017. If we apply for a supervisa or are in the country on our current multiple entry visa, can she apply to sponsor us while we are actually IN Canada?
2. If we are in Canada on a supervisa, does that give us temporary resident status that would allow us to open investments for income in Canadian investment opportunities?

If she qualifies, submits a lottery entry in January 2018, and is selected... only then can she sponsor you while you're in Canada on supervisa.

No. It only allows you to visit, nothing more. Basically supervisa is identical to a multi-entry TRV, it just allows CBSA to allow you in for a longer time if they feel like it when you enter. Also of course travel medical insurance is mandatory.
That is really disappointing - I thought that, with Supervisa allowing one to stay, it would follow that one would be able to make investments for income while one is there, to be self-supporting. This rule actually puts financial pressure on visitor and host both!

They can make the same "investments" as any other foreigner can make. There are many options for foreigners to invest in Canada to make income, just need to do some research.
