Legally speaking it is not a problem. However I would not call waiting so close to your expiry safe.

God forbid any problem that prevents you from traveling, will risk your visa.

Your visa won't be extended, regardless of your personal circumstances.

@Sarfrosh, In My opinion, u must visit Canada, get your alone PR, and it will be safe as you will be partial Canadian. your family will be safe. in all the cases you will be 100% safe but it is expensive to go to canada.

after few days Saudi Arabia airline is offering very cheap tickets to Canada check with any of Agent. you can get very very cheap tickets, visit for one week get PR and stay wherever you want to stay.

Saudi Arabia might require visas or they may deny boarding. I would not risk it.
It is kind of silly for someone to take a long transit in Saudia when there are shorter hassle-free transits available through dubai, abu dhabi, istanbul, etc.........Better fly emirates, etihad, etc to Toronto.

I have received my COPR and Visa. Last date given on embassy letter as you must arrive in canada on or before 6 Aug 2013. Also on COPR data of medical validity and date of visa validity is given as 6 Aug 2014. On the visa stamped at passport expiry date is given as 6 Aug 2014.

I am planning to land in canada on 2 Aug 2014. I wanted to know am in the safe date when it comes to visa validity

I would strongly advise you to go before, don't leave it until the last few days/

Keep in mind things such as global weather, storms, ash clouds, airport or airline strikes, flight cancellations, etc can affect your travel time.

Better to leave plenty of time rather than just 3-4 days before visa expiry. If you don;t make it to Canada by expiry date, the embassy won't issue another medical and/or visa. You will have to re-apply again for immigration.

Personally I would not take that risk, I'd go ASAP and at least land and then return back to wind up everything and return to Canada later.
Your friend/family in Canada can courier you the card...
