Hi, I am a Canadian citizen who has been living in the Philippines with my girlfriend for more than one year. In the Statuatory Declaration for Common Law one question is if common law status was declared under the Canada Income Tax act. I have already changed my status from single to common law at Revenue Canada online for the upcoming 2016 Income Tax return year but am not sure if it is ok to have done this?
I have another question maybe you know the answer too. Is it ok that we only have a joint bank account and life insurance for about 4 months before submitting the application?

What is your evidence that you've been living together for 12 months? You need to show some kind of proofs that go back to the beginning of your 12 months cohabitation (like a joint lease agreement).

We have a 2 year rental contract and receipts with both our names that go back more than one year. We also have receipts of items purchased showing both our names and same address. On the declaration for common union, only that will go back more than one year.
Only joint account and insurance is less.
But before joint account I was transferring money from my canadian paypal account to her philippine paypal account and then to her bank.
I have receipts showing money sent to her. Does that count?
