My husband has been here since july on a visitor visa from the usa. We got married in September and sent our outland PR application off last month (we used a lawyer).
My husbands visa expires january 1st and he will be at 6 months here as of jan 1. We are going to apply for another extension prior to january, but Im wondering what your experiences have been with this? Will they usually give more time than the 6 months? I know with inland you have implied Status but we are outland app.

From reading the different stories, it seems a bit random... some people get another 6 months, some got 12... so 6 months should be good for you...hopefully you won't need another one and the application will be processed really fast!
I'm applying Inland but extending my visitors visa to keep legal status while waiting for clearance. So far it's gone well with one extension approved. I'm a stay at home dad so I wrote that and that I'm completing my PR app. Either way the wait is months long for extension decision so my implied from my app for extension gets me an extra 3 months. Still awaiting news for last extension application. Best Of luck!!
I would request a year. We requested 6 months and got it. Also it took them like 2 months to process the visitor visa renewal. As long as it is submitted you have the receipt you will be fine.
