Hi all,

My husband and I submitted an application March 2018. He is out of status in Paris, France.
After I was approved for sponsorship our application was sent to Ottawa as our VO and they have completed his BCG in September 2018. It has been 2 months and we have not heard anything since even the request for the Permenant Residence fee wasn't requested since we didnt pay it at the beginning.
My questions are...what is next and how long does the next part usually take? Also does my husband have to go back to his home country before they continue his application or can he stay where he is?

Review of eligibility: "We are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirements"
Background Check: “We are processing your background check. we will send you a message if we need more information.“

if the Principal Applicant (PA) has completed medical exam and the status in online account for eligibility and background check is as above.....just need patience, after eligibility assessment and background check is completed, usually passport request is next.....patience.

If bgc is done and passed, the only thing left is eligibility check (assuming medical is passed). You could always pay the RPRF and submit the receipt via webform to avoid delays down the road and to “remind” them of your app.

I paid last week. I was actually thinking exactly what you were saying. this could remind them of my application. I submitted my receipt. Hopefully it is not too much longer of a wait. My biggest concern was would he have to leave France or not to get to the next step.

if the PA is not invited or required to attend an interview the PA may stay in France in necessary.....when the PA receives passport request there will be instructions.....so its up to the PA if they want to travel out of France until passport request/passport approval.
