I also applied work permit extension under public policy. No update yet.
My work permit expires, Nov 27th, 2021.
Kinda worried what would happen if not getting it on time.

Does that mean, gonna need to pack up my stuff to go back home?

You are good if you applied for extension before expiry of your work permit.

Gonna tell you what exactly my lawyer told me and that is... no you don't have to leave Canada. It means you are on implied status. As long as you have applied before deadline. Don't worry.
