Open work permit request

Dear all i have a valid visit visa and my wife currently studying in Canada for about 1 year .
I applied for SPOWP but it seems to take very long time .
Can i go to canada by the visit visa and ask the immigration officer to change it to open work permit instaed ?? There are any risks for that ?
Can it be accepted please ?

No - this is not possible. You cannot apply for an open work permit at the POE. All you can do with the visit visa is enter Canada as a visitor.

Yes you can apply for open work permit when you come to Canada. You can either apply online or at the border. However not at POE but after you are found admissible to Canada and have gained entry

Do you think if i have already an opened request online for Open work permit ..i still can apply at borders after entering Canada as visitor ?
