Open work permit question

My husband has a closed work permit that expires in 4 months. I am applying to sponsor him and I am also including an open work permit application. Which option do I need to chose ? I am confused about it.
Apply for a work permit with existing employer
Apply for first permit or open work permit
I believe the options were worded something to that extent.
We need a n open work permit not with the same employer.

You need to choose the option "applying for a new/first work permit"
This is a new work permit completely unrelated to his current permit.

Also, the UCI Number, do we use the one he had before or is this supposed to be the number sent by cic for this application ?

If your husband already has a UCI number, they will use the same one for this application. You can go ahead and use it on all your forms.
