Hi everyone....Newbie here and in need of some valuable information from anyone who can help me out.
So i am applying for post diploma in Human Resource Managament program being offered by College of New Caledonia in Prine George, BC for January 2021 intake.
Admission, funds etc is not an issue. I am a UK citizen and will be travelling with my wife and 2 dependent kids aged 8 and 4
What i need to know is that when i apply for my study permit do i have to apply for the open work permit for my wife and kids at thr same time or can i only apply for my study permit and then on landing apply for wife and kids Open work permit at Point of Entry?
Please note that as we are UK citizens wr are allowed to apply for open work permit at port of entry as per CIC website providing if spouse is in canada and either working or studying full time.
So the query is do i apply for spouse and kids open work permit from UK when i apply for my study permit?
Or
Do i apply at Port of Entry?
Which one is better and what are the chances for both?
Thanka in advance and if you need any more info please let me know.
Also of anyone esle in UK and applying for Canada study permit and bringing their family with them please connect.

This answer is assuming all travel restrictions are lifted by then.
Your family will need eTAs to travel to Canada. Your spouse can apply for an OWP upon entry. You cannot get study permits for your kids at a POE. They would enter as visitors and you would request Visitor Records to match the validity of your study permit.

Thanks for the reply. Your post has cleared alot of confusion now. Also what about the family informatiom section in study permit application where i have to tell them if my spouse and kids will accompany me ? Do i mention yes or no? Assuming i mention yes then can i enter canada with study permit and at the same time my wife apply fir OWP at POE and kids enter as visitors and later on request visitor records?

As they are coming with you, you answer Yes.
You request the Visitor Records for the kids
upon entry.

Thanks for the info. Will kids be able to start primary schooling if they have visitor records? As i will be there on a 2 year course and dont want kids to miss their schooling.

Khurram_1980uk
Hi, we are in the same position! Did your study permit get approved?
How did you prove that you’d return to the UK once your permit time is up? I’m especially worried about ours being rejected due to taking spouse and children with me.
Good luck with your travels.
