I am a Permanent Resident looking for the process of applying Open Work Permit for my fiance, post wedding.
Below is a quick summary of my current state
- I am a PR , currently in Canada employed under NOC (skill type) A
- My fiance is in India employed in IT
- He doesn't hold any type of Canada Visa
Wanted to understand the conditions/steps to apply for Open Work Permit, post wedding.
Is it possible for my fiance to apply for Open Work Permit from India?
- If yes, could someone please help me with the process or direct me to the thread where there is a conversation on this (when I looked thru CIC, there were many IMM forms that got me confused)
- If no, what are the steps to be taken prior to applying for open work permit?

It's not possible for him to apply for an open work permit from India.
If he wants an open work permit, you need to get married and then he needs to come to Canada on as TRV. Once he is in Canada, you must submit an inland sponsorship application to sponsor him for PR as your spouse and include an open work permit with this application. The open work permit will be approved about 4 months later.
There is no option for him to apply for an open work permit from India.
