During the processing of an application, you will receive 4-5 GUs. Some applicants do not receive any. A ghost update is merely a movement in your file. To know what exactly they are, you need to refer to your GCMS notes and also remember the date you had them to match them. However, the ghost update can be a mundane movement from initiating your BGC or a major one, as getting final approval.
The BGC refers to criminality and security. This is why the BGC status changes twice during the processing of the application. Since your AoR is Oct, it may be very likely that criminality, info sharing is done and eligibility is in progress. Once Eligibility is passed, the BGC will be in progress again and will indicate that security has been initiated.
Is the London VO not working at all due to lockdown? I'm in the UK so I'm guessing they have my application, and the lockdown isn't finishing any time soon - this lockdown may last up until March 31 under the current laws. Would explain why literally nothing seems to be happening with my application since I gave biometrics I guess :/
A GU is an update to your application and it is difficult to speculate what it means. Instead call IRCC, wend a webform or request your GCMS notes to see what stage your application is at.

It wasn't requested at all and I didn't send it with my application as well. I heard they ask for RCMP clearance on a random basis and especially if you are CEC applicant. I am FSW-Inland.
