how much is the courier fee they mentioned in BLS along with service charge, why they did not mention it ?? please tell me how much is the courier fee??
Has anyone here submitted an OCI + Visa application in a single appointment? I need to travel to India next month so I am going to submit my visa application next week (I got an appointment under visa). I am wondering If I can also submit an OCI application with it.
Has anyone here mailed their OCI application using Canada Post, FEDEX or UPS? If yes, how much money did you include in the bank draft as return courier fee? The fee section just says BLS Processing Fee: $7.4+ Courier fee but there's no mention of the amount.

Hi all! Is it necessary to have a new foreign passport in order to surrender Indian passport to renounce Indian citizenship? I'm trying to fill the form online, and it asks me for foreign passport number! Also, the application form to be filled out asks for this passport detail.
At least for Toronto jurisdiction, it is not mandatory. As per the checklist, if you have not applied for canadian passport, you can write a declaration addressed to the Consulate General stating that you have not applied for a foreign passport, and hence don't have one. Can't comment about Ottawa and Vancouver jurisdiction.
Personally, I would strongly advise that you wait until you get your canadian passport before you apply for surrender certificate. BLS is notorious for asking for documents out of the blue, and deviating from the standard procedure will only worsen your experience with them. Which is horrible to begin with.
Sorry, I don't have answer for this as we applied in person.
I do advise applying in person if possible as once they accept your application in person, it is pretty much guaranteed to be processed, whereas in postal, there is always a chance they might reject it for a random reason. To book an appointment, visit this link between 8:30 am and 9:30 am daily. Toronto and Brampton same-day spots show up in that timeslot and you can select any type of appointment (Visa/OCI/Passport).

Just my guess, but knowing BLS, they'll ask for a 2nd appointment as well (OCI checklist is very long and I think it takes a long time for the person at the counter to verify the documents). Who knows?! Maybe by the time you go next week, India opens eVisa for canadians (I think India removed canadians from evisa eligibility as a retaliation for Canada having specific testing requirements from India - which was removed last week).
Alternatively, you can try booking a same day appointment using the steps I mentioned above to another person.
I have received my OCI, but the part where they have those <<<<<<<< arrows like that has two characters of my OCI number aren’t printed properly. The bottom half of them is not printed. Do you think it’s gonna be a problem? Should I ask for a reprint?
After all the hassle and hefty fees, this is the quality we get.
Is there a police verification happens in India, just like passport police verification use to happen in the past, where police guys from the nearest police station comes to the home? Do the police go the Indian address filled on? Or do they call the Indian reference?
