I received an email saying they received my package on the 3rd but the website shows the application date as Oct 10th.

That email from BLS doesn't matter. They usually pass it on to the consulate the same or next working day from the "Application date".

@Absinthetx if you are going in person to submit please carry all originals for verification. They will check at the counter and most likely give the documents back to you
For postal applications only send self attested copy of the supporting documents mentioned in the check list.

I am applying by mail, So no need to send original of Canadian passport, Citizenship certificate and cancelled Indian passport ? and self attested copies will suffice ?
