@abbas.pasha I have in person appointment tomorrow for OCI. Do we need to self attest all copies like in surrender certificate application? From checklist, only one copy was mentioned as duly signed. Thanks in advance.

Hi All,

Looking to get some advise here as I have a need to go to India soon. The problem is my husband just got his citizenship certificate. We are planning to apply for express/urgent Canada passport with the tickets on Monday. Would he be able to get e-visa once he gets his Canada passport? or is Indian passport surrender necessary? We will be applying for surrender but I think as per current timelines, we cannot wait until we get surrender certificate with cancelled passport. I hear we can surrender within 90 days. We will be back within 90 days from India so he can still surrender within that date.

Monday means - 13th Feb? It's too close for new Canadian passport and e-visa together. Have you already applied Canadian passport and got it in your hand?
Keep aside Surrender Certificate for now as this is neither required nor hinderance for your immediate travel on e-visa.

Indian citizenship surrender/passport cancellation is not necessary to apply for eVisa
