OCI process

List of documents to upload are fairly straightforward- child Canadian passport, parents Indian passports, marriage certificate and birth certificate. Hope I didn't miss anything.
In my case, as my wife is a born Canadian, consulate (mistakenly) requested her Indian passport (which never existed).

When you said birth certificate. Was it parents or your child?

Received my OIC today via Purolator.
Applied 29th June via postal to Brampton.
Acknowledgement on BLS 7th July.
Acknowledgement on OCI website 15th July.
Received OCI by post 16 August.

Hi guys, how long does the OCI takes to process these days? I am outside Canada Sep mid to Oct mid. I do not believe BLS will hold the OCI for a few days/weeks. I do not know whether Purolator can drop in the mailbox.
Can I apply Aug 26th or apply early September right before I leave Canada?

It is taking roughly 7 weeks (+/- 1 week) these days for Toronto & Brampton offices

@ivikas What does it mean by Passport ready after OCI stamping? I thought original passport is not required for the whole process (except verification at BLS counter if application is submitted by walkin).

No, they don't keep your original Canadian passport. Passport ready after OCI stamping means your OCI booklet/passport is ready for pickup (if you had selected pickup option.

if Indian passport has "Chennai, Tamilnadu" In place of Birth but Canadian Passport has just "Chennai" , will that be a problem?

Just wondering the same. Can experts guide on this please?

Hi all

Just 2 questions -

1.. I have to go back in an emergency so is possible that I apply for an Indian tourist visa along with my Indian passport renunciation.

2. Apply for Oci after I receive my surrender certificate and visa and fly to India. Meaning does purolator need my signature for delivery or any one at home can receive on my behalf.

Yes you can. You will need to give a self declaration that you do not have a Canadian Passport yet.

Usually 4-6 weeks.

Aug 4th applicant ( Walk-in Toronto) with no acknowledgment on the OCI website. Will share if there are any updates.

Clearly they are behind now by more than a week, genrally we should see Acknowledgements rolling within first 10-12 days from submission.

and exactly after 4 weeks of acknowledgement we will see the status change OCI dispatched from Delhi.

I feel Independence day holidays & programs both is Toronto Consulate as well as in Delhi might be the reason, people who will apply post Aug 15 will face more delays now, they will touch 2 months of processing easily

got the acknowledgement on the OCI site today , Status: Under Process
