Can we apply for Surrender certificate and OCI together or surrender certificate has to be first and then OCI

Yes, you need to first apply for Surrender Certificate. Once you get it, you can then use it to apply for OCI.
You can however apply for Surrender Certificate and Entry visa if you need to travel right away.

If your application is in Toronto area, it should have been processed by yesterday, considering 21 days its taking for most of the people.

i think the acknowledgement you receive mean everything is fine regarding documentation and now its just waiting to get processed/printed.
You can try digging out this forum if anyone got rejection after acknowledgment stage.

I highly doubt it. Unless there is something serious like a criminal record, the application should not get rejected. This is just a verification / processing step and it takes time.

Hey Ottawa applicants. Please check your OCI Status. Mine finally shows processed. It has not been dispatched yet. But feels good to finally see some progress.

So, today BLS shows all my 3 applications as "Passport ready for collection after OCI Stamping".

In fact I already received one of them through Purolator yesterday. Other 2 , are on the delivery vehicle....

I think applications with acknowledgment date as 1st June are being processed now. I dont see reason for worry
Nobody has reported that 2nd June applications are being processed.
Also application status change later in the day. so please wait till evening

I too highly doubt that they will reject after 2 months. BLS is not that inefficient man.
No but seriously, I feel you should be seeing a change in status soon.

Mine is - Processing at Consulate General
Wife has a different status - Counter Delivery to BLS Centre after OCI stamping
