I don't exactly remember. I wasn't paying too much attention as I don't need it until July.
But I checked the status of my visa application just now and it says "Dispatched via Courier". Applied on May 7th and the visa is on its way on May 12th. That's not bad.
I just got my OATH done recently. I'm still waiting for the citizenship certificate.
Can someone please let me know the after process and order for oci, surrender certificate, and Canadian passport.
I would suggest that if you're travelling anytime soon then apply for Surrender first with Certificate only this one took about 35 calendar days I applied on April 6th 2022 in-person, received the completed SC at BLS on 11th of May 2022 picked up today 12th of May 2022
For Canadian Passport I received mine in 6 days applied in person at Brampton Office with a travel itinerary with express pick-up for $ 50 on 7th of April 2022 received by 13th of April 2022 pick up at Mississauga Office
This way you can apply for a visa in-case you need to travel to India for any emergency as you have already submitted your Surrender certificate (SC) They will attach it to your VISA application or can be done together as well SC+ VISA with a Canadian passport.
you might want to email consec.toronto@mea.gov.in and explain the delay in your timeline. Fortunately, the day I emailed them, I got an acknowledgment date on the OCI website. They didn't reply back and I don't really care about that though.
The date on the BLS: March 30 (keep in mind I re-sent my application on March 17)
The date of acknowledgment on OCI: May 4 (Under process).

Can i use my bank account for issuing bank draft for OCI for my wife ? I saw that the bank had put in my name as payer since my account was used for issuing draft.
Asking coz, BLS is totally unpredictable.....(they might say, oh its your name on the draft and your wife is applying for OCI)

Use the same name as in your Canadian passport. Attach one self attested letter explaining the reason for no first name. You have to do similar letter for your OCI but in case of OCI, notarized letter is recommended.

I am just beginning to start with this whole surrender certificate / OCI process and had a question:
How difficult is it to apply in person at the BLS office in Toronto? Is there a long line up and is the chance of being turned away high?
I am inclined to apply via mail to avoid the whole line up at the office but I am not sure as the process can be unpredictable and am afraid my application may get returned after a few weeks in case some document is missing.
Also for the surrender certificate: do we need to submit originals of the Canadian citizenship certificate and Canadian passport or would copies suffice?
