Hi, I am still waiting for my canadian passport. Its yet to be printed. Can I still go ahead and submit application for indian passport surrender and oci grant ?
You can apply for surrender application without Canadian passport with a letter stating that you had applied for passport and it’s not available yet. But for oci you will require both your Canadian passport and Surender Certificate

Surrender : You can ( i did confirmed today from the line 6137552072 for Ottawa Juridiction), you need to have an explanation letter.
OCI: NO you can not for sure without Surrender certificate. You need have the surrender certificate before you can submit the OCI. so go for surrender first. Then OCI.
Regarding SC application @ BLS Surrey: Submission Date: 12th April
CGI Status:
12th April: Under Process
18th April: Surrender certificate has been printed
BLS Status:
12th April: In Transit from BLS Centre to Consulate General
19th April: In Transit from Consulate General to BLS Centre
Question: I heard some mentions of having to ping Sampark center at some stage. Looking at these timelines, do you think everything is on pace, or do I need to intervene now, or after a certain wait? When and how? Thanks.

yes, mine was in a different status - Certificate granted and available for issuance. Then it went for Ready to Collection, whereas I already paid for return mail. So I created a ticket and they acknowledged the issue and sent me surrender certificate.
I am not sure if that is entirely accurate. For my husband the status on the consulate site updated to 'Printed' this monday on 18th April and he received his surrender and passort 30 mins back. I had checked every single day of last week till friday April 15th and for him too the status was still the same as 'Certificate granted and available for issuance'. So if the surrender was signed on last wednesday which was April 13th then the status should have changed on thursday or friday. but instead chnaged this monday 18th
The printing on Wednesday may be accurate, for the reason that Thursday and Friday were holidays (Mahavir Jayanti & Good Friday) at CGI, Toronto.. That is why the status was updated to 'Printed' on 18 April

Makes sense but on my husbands surrender certificate it shows that surrender was granted on Thursday April 14th so seems like it was signed on thursday last week and then status got updated on monday this week.
