When I called BLS.. I was initially told that you didn't need to send Originals.. I was like dude.. its written in bold in the checklist on BLS website.
Made me very nervous about overall process.

I will keep on checking the OCI Status enquiry site for any changes.. I guess things are pretty quick after that.

When I spoke to the BLS person yesterday, I was told that the originals are being sent to HCI for verification. I have no idea if there is any truth to this. The thought of these fools damaging my citizenship certificate makes me lose my sleep at night.

Don't lose sleep over this. In government offices 'Der hai Andher nahi'. I mean they may delay, but will surely return it.

And if in any case something happens, there is always a way out. Apply for a new one (in lost category). Shall not take that long. There is an urgent option too.

Still have to get OCI re-issued after completing 50 years of age. so that will be one more visit. (but atleast not now)

No you don't. See here: https://www.mea.gov.in/overseas-citizenship-of-india-scheme.htm

You only need OCI re-issued once after you reach the age of 20 and get a new passport. For all other new passports and reaching of age 50, you only need to upload details on OCI Services page.

So no more B(L)S after getting OCI.

Anyone having issues logging in to passport seva, keeps getting incorerct passoword error (im pretty sure im entering right password)
even try resetting it, still same incorrect password error .

You only need OCI re-issued once after you reach the age of 20 and get a new passport. For all other new passports and reaching of age 50, you only need to upload details on OCI Services page.

So no more B(L)S after getting OCI.

Perhaps BLS Brampton guys realize this more than the others, and hence want to make this a memorable last experience.

I think all BLS have a specific time in the day when they open new appointment slots for the next day. For BLS Surrey, it is 7-7:30 pm. I obtained my OCI appointment the evening I received my SC, for the next morning.

5th week and now still awaiting for acknowledgement people in Surrey get acknowledgment within few days. Whats happening in Toronto or my file
