I am in the midst of applying for SC and see contradictory information:

On the BLS Toronto checklist it says we need to submit copy of Canadian passport but later down in the same PDF it says copy and original is required (https://www.blsindia-canada.com/tor...rmation-Booklet-for-Surrender-Certificate.pdf). CGI Toronto website says we need to submit only copy (https://www.cgitoronto.gov.in/page/surrender-certificate/).

Has anyone been through this process and could share their experience?

I can't answer whether BLS will reject it or not, but just today morning I submitted my application to BLS centre, they told me to bring a draft "The Consulate General of India" without Toronto. Infact I didnt took the draft upfront I thought I can pay by debit but they told me to bring a draft. So I walked-in to Canada Post shop and got it done.

Also the payment gateway for generating Purolator label does not seem to be working in my case. I have tried multiple times on different days. I am thinking of just adding the money to the demand draft - would this be $36.23 CAD? I just want the drop off service. It would be great if someone could confirm.

They don't accept debit?

No, for HCI/CGI part. They only take draft or money order as per this link - https://www.blsindia-canada.com/toronto-jurisdiction/ocihome.php

can I do both the Indian passport surrender and OCI application together at the same time ?
Actually i live 3hrs away from BLS office, so trying to see if i can cut short 1 journey.

Yes both can be done at one go.

Based on my experience submission is of the photocopy of Canadian passport while they sometimes verify with the original passport depending on their mood. So keeping it handy helps.

Yeah, the rules for the Ottawa + Toronto jurisdictions diverged from Vancouver somewhere in October 2021.

What time are the timeslots for Brampton released for the next day? Is it 7-7.30pm EDT the previous day?

That information is buried on this very thread - somewhere in the last week of Feb/beginning of March. You will need to really dig through the posts. That info was also also released by CGI Toronto on their FB and Twitter pages around that period. One of our helpful forum member had pointed that out.
