Is anyone from Calgary applied for OCI and passport surrender at BLS calgary office? I was told that fee is $388 for OCI but BLS website has $352.5. They also mentioned more fee for passport surrender. If possible, I would like to pick up oci instead of paying for postal service. Can anyone clarify?

That's weird. No where is it mentioned that the fee is 388. Did a BLS employee tell you that the fee is 388? When in doubt, check the website :

No, my jurisdiction is Toronto. I will be walking in to submit my application next week (I'm expecting to receive my passport on Monday).

This is the most recent OCI + Surrender experience but this is in Toronto jurisdiction =>

The fees are the same for Toronto and Vancouver jurisdictions AFAIK.

I went inside the office at around 8:20am and was out by 8:45am.

I requested CGI NY how long this would take to update the information on OCI portal (for my kid's profile). Below is what I received:

I'm wondering what the next steps are and when to expect a final update. Initially, I thought that since everything is online this process would be fast, but unfortunately not so.

NY GCI is at least responsive and said it will take a min 30 days. I will continue to check and will update on my status. But I am positive you will get response earlier than mine as you applied at least 2 weeks before I did. Fingers crossed.

Went to BLS Brampton today. Office opens at 8am. I was 10th in line when I reached at 7am.

Passport Surrender
Mode: Walk-in & requested it to be picked-up (no purolator)
13-Aug: Submitted at BLS Brampton
13-Aug: checked after submission - BLS Tracking - Under process

OCI

Based on the BLS website, looks like bank drafts are mandatory for OCI but could you please confirm what you did, thanks! For surrender, I can see that the fees can be paid using a debit card!

Yes, you can surrender your citizenship and apply for OCI at the same time.

I think you can apply for your child's surrender regardless of your OCI status but someone else who has a kid can confirm this.
