Booking appointment - I checked every single day for a week. Dates became available one of those days for 20 days down the line. Sometimes, these available dates can go up to 2 months from what I have witnessed.

BLS Montreal / BLS Ottawa - BLS Montreal and BLS Ottawa seem way nicer compared to Toronto, Brampton or Mississauga. Never had to pay an extra cent at BLS Montreal (both surrender certificate application and OCI). Friends who went to BLS Ottawa had to pay less than 5 extra dollars and that too mostly for their own mistakes. Both Ottawa and Montreal offices are less busy and less crowded. Staff at BLS Montreal have been kind, helpful and courteous.

Timelines - Way longer compared to Toronto jurisdiction. 7-8 weeks on average.

Hi all, I just started with my OCI journey today. Wanted to post my timeline so folks applying in the same time-frame can also follow.

Walk-in BLS Vancouver

I'll update as and when I receive anything. This is from the BLS site:

It will be really helpful to understand what to expect next, in-terms of communication or updates from either BLS or CGI.

Do we need to submit original passport with the OCI application? Has anyone found a workaround for this requirement?

for postal application - submit self-attested copies of all your supporting documents . ( I won't trust my life on the incompetent BLS associates )
for walkin application - carry the originals supporting documents with you, the BLS associate will check them ( some associates dont even check supporting documents )

You need to upload originals along with OCI online application and like @BeerBeem said carry originals if going inperson, postal only send self attested copies.

Processing at Consulate General - August 1

DO you see the PROCESSING update on BLS website or is it on the OCI website?
I still see UNDERPROCESS on BLS and NO RECORD FOUND on OCI. Some Customer care agents say its on route to the consulate and some say it already reached consulate last week. SO confused about what to do...

The OCI is not yet received by BLS. Is it normal? Please advise.

Your OCI will be dispatched from India and will be received at CGI (hence, still Processing at Consulate General) and then sent to BLS for purolator collection.
