I have already got my Surrender certificate last year. I am going to apply for OCI only. Do I still have to send originals or just the copies?

It varies from location to location. Just give them a call or drop them an email to get clarified.

Got OCI today. Walkin application at BLS Calgary for Vancouver office.
Applied on Dec17; Vancouver office got it on Dec 19; Printed and dispatched from Delhi on Jan 8; Reached Vancouver on Jan 8; Got it delivered home by Puralator on Jan 13. Took 28 days end to end.

Sending marriage certificate through email is fine. But they might require original forms with signature, so you may have to send that in courier. You can reply back in the same email with queries, so that you can be sure. They will most likely reply within a day.

even I’m also submitting OCI card for my newborn. I’ve submitted part-A online and before I start part-b do I need to uplaof the photograph and signature (thumb) ?
Please help me on this, when I contacted customer service she told me to submit the soft copies.

Yes. I had to upload photo and thumb impression. I applied in Toronto Jurisdiction. Once the application and supporting documents are uploaded, you will have to print out the application form and take the thumb impression on page 3 under declaration.

Again, this is what I had to do under Toronto Jurisdiction, per my experience, different jurisdiction have different requirements. For instance, I was asked not to send any original documents to Toronto, but per other posts in this forum, people have sent originals to their respective jurisdictions. I would suggest you call the customer service again and asks them very specific questions regarding your doubts.

From 8th to 12th there was no update on bls site and status was blank. On 12th BLS status got updated like “ready for dispatch” and tracking number. Also received text on cellphone that Purolator picked it up.

BLS office in Toronto is closed as part of the lockdown measures. No idea when it will open, so a postal application is the only choice.

For applications sent by purolator, how long does BLS take to acknowledge receipt and for the application to show on the BLS website for tracking progress? I sent my application on Friday and it was delivered Monday 01/18/2021. when will i be able to see file on bls website.

I am planning to apply OCI for my daughter (2 years old) born in Toronto, Canada.
I see that BLS Toronto is closed due to lockdown and postal application is the only option.

Could someone recently applied please let me know the document requirements. I and my wife are Indian Passport holders. Jurisdiction is Toronto. Checklist and the process mentioned in OCI website is too confusing.

When I applied in Dec 2020, BLS said they aren’t doing any kind of Oci stamping on passport. We will simply get the OCI card which will have passport number on it by mail.
