OCI process

I fail to see why people with travel plans in January and beyond are still depending on OCI which is known to be a drawn out process. Some of us who were thinking of e-VISA for pre-planned travel in October to mid December landed in a fix with the unexpected visa suspension. And we were compelled to use OCI as the only option left. But that crisis is nearing an end except for those having family emergencies.

If your travel in January is very important, apply for entry visa. Otherwise get OCI in hand and then plan travel.

Your chances of getting OCI before Jan 2 is non-zero but not very promising. If processing continues at the present speed, you may get it around end of December but its likely to slow down further. Add to that delays due to Christmas/New Year holidays, and it looks risky.

We do have E visa but not sure if allowed to travel on that.

E-visa from when? If issued after the post covid resumption it is valid.
And if its from pre march-2020, apply for entry visa. Why stay "scared" as you wrote?

I got it in August 2023. if we can travel then its a big relief.

Oci acknowledgment Vancouver consulate Oct/17 still showing under process. I am flying on Dec/05, any chances i will get oci by then or should i apply for entry visa.

Then Why shouldn't it be valid. If you are still unsure why not ask the consulate?

On website i could not find any email to contact and no where it was mentioned anything regarding evisa is valid or not. Thats why i was worried and applied for OCI as well.
Could you please share any contact?

My husband got his e-visa during 2nd week of Sept 2023 and travelled during last week of September to India for two weeks with no issues, and returned back to Canada as well.

The visa is valid. Existing visa's were not cancelled when the suspension was announced in September. I do not understand why you think otherwise.
E-visa's issued prior to March 2020 were cancelled during COVID and still remains cancelled.

Finally an update end of evening from BLS. Two of our applications has the following message. The third one has the actual waybill number saying it’s been dispatched via puralator

Pls update and follow this, this will give you trends its around 40 days now from ACK to Processed.
