My understanding from reading through and checking the tracker is that from application to receiving OCI is 45-55 days

Much appreciated and hoping to apply within the next couple of days. I submitted an OCI application as well via Postal which I will not receive in time so hence looking at the alternate entry visa option.

Allow for 15 to 20 calendar days for visa by post -- apply asap.
