Oath ceremony

Hi
What is the process on oath ceremony?
They ask us to bring lots of documents for the oath ceremonies. can someone please help explain some of the process that occurs on oath day? do they take back our pr card and landing paper? why do they ask us to bring all our current and expired passports again? what do they do with our passports?

Only PR card is taken. They don't look at the landing paper. They did not verify my passport, but helps as an extra piece of id.
