Due to my age, I should be exempted from the language requirement. I completed the physical presence and prohibition requirements in late February. However, there has been no update since then. I find it a bit strange that the Language, Physical Presence, and Prohibition (LPP) assessments were not completed on the same day. Could this be a concern?
I also requested my GCMS notes on April 1, but I have not yet received them.
Not sure whether delays from IRCC are a common experience.

Not necessarily. It could be done at a different time. For the GCMS note, it may take up to a month to receive the report. Due to the election, it might take a bit longer.

If you are exempt from the language requirement, the tracker will show "In Progress" for the Language Section the whole time and never change to "Completed", as per other people's experience:

https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-i...ip-a-comprehensive-guide.687393/post-11027470

So if your Physical Presence and Prohibition are completed, then effectively your LPP is complete as well.

Many people (myself included) are seeing long delays-- months, in some cases-- after LPP completed, or even in getting LPP completed. Some have speculated that things have been on hold due to the election. I was skeptical of this explanation at first.

However, a friend of mine who is applying for PR through Express Entry told me yesterday that everything has been on hold there as well-- only one draw in her category during the past 3 months, and only one general draw in the past 2 months, where normally draws happen roughly every 2 weeks. So the fact that two different immigration streams (Express Entry and Citizenship) have both slowed down enormously during the same time period makes me think that it might indeed be due to the election.

Of course, that does not account for the fact that some applications still seem to be processed very quickly. Perhaps a general slowdown due to the election affects different VO's differently...

Are you an Italian citizen?
My CoR is listed as USA which is where I am from despite clearly living in Canada. So CoR may have a different meaning for IRCC than we are assuming from the nomenclature.

Nope. I have only visited Italy as a tourist in 2023. I mentioned this in the application as it asked for all immigration statuses ever held (so I had to list all the visas I have ever held).

You are correct. I totally agree with your statements but it is not just express entry or citizenship. Even work permits are delayed significantly. I have a friend whose PGWP was submitted in June 2024 and has still heard nothing. Looking at GCMS notes his processing wasn't even started in February 2025.
In my case my LLP has not completed since March 29 (Jan applicant) and I can see all citizenship applications are kind of either on hold like mine or the progress is extremely slow. If Vancouver office is the primary office then the applicant is toast! This office is among the slowest across all other offices. I personally am not thinking about it anymore as this delay has already put my business expansion to the US on hold. Sigh!

OMG I just received the oath invite!! It has been an AGONIZING wait of 90 days following my LPP completion (timeline below). It is almost unbearable when your fate is held in the hands of someone else (namely IRCC), and the long delay had me depressed, demoralized, and despondent (that could be a new Cole Porter song!). But the golden day has FINALLY arrived. I wept tears of joy when I saw the email... I could hardly believe my eyes, but it is real!

My life begins today.

To everyone on here, thank you SO MUCH for all your help, support, and information which have gotten me through this stressful process. You are fantastic! For those of you who have not yet received your oath invite, do NOT lose hope—you will get it!!

Canada, I love you!

Sincere congratulations!

Not that it's any of my business, but curious - if it was so stressful for you to wait, why did you wait so long to apply? You had the physical presence days ages ago.
Ha ha! Good question. I waited to apply for two reasons:

1) Right after I received my PR and moved to Canada, I had a period of more than a year where I commuted back to my home country every other week because I was finishing up a job there. I waited to apply for citizenship until that commute period was outside of the preceding 5-year window, because I didn't want the multiple trips outside of Canada to complicate or mess up the application process.

2) When I was first eligible to apply for citizenship with the minimum number of days, the processing time for citizenship applications was more than two years (due to COVID backlog). My PR card was set to expire during that period, so I would have needed to renew my PR card anyway even if I applied for citizenship right away. So combined with reason #1, I thought it best to wait.

Congratulations! Was this a single or family application?

As a further update, my virtual oath was Wednesday (March 26), and I sent to oath form immediately after. I still don't have the e-certificate and the tracker has not changed.

To recap: I followed up with another email the next day, after realizing I never got the customary auto-reply, asking if they received it. I received an auto-reply to that email (with no attachment), so I emailed it again, printing the PDF to a new PDF, hoping if there was an issue with the file, a different file would help. After getting no auto-reply to that too, I sent it via the web form for "add documents to your application", since that will "timestamp" it that I sent it within the required 48 hours.

Hopefully someone will process it at some point, and hopefully I'm Canadian now, since I cut up my PR card.
So if I get auto-reply for email with attached form I guess I am good now, I don't need to use webform ?

Presumably. I don't know your timing and stuff. Most people seem to get it same day. If I was approaching the end of the 48 hour period without the e-Certificate being available, I'd send it via web form too, personally.

I’m glad to hear things are progressing at the Vancouver office. If my assumption is correct, they’re scheduling oaths based on AOR dates: April covered October AORs with LPP confirmed, May might be for November, and June for December. So, if nothing changes in the meantime, I’m hopeful June will be my month :)
