After the test is taken, how long it takes to get the Oath ceremony date? I looked at the trackers and it seems to vary a lot. I'm in the US and need to plan because my kid can't travel during the month of May due to high school exams.

Not necessarily. Lots of cases where it comes after.
If you get a test invite before your background clears, you're most likely getting a fingerprint request (like me and others).

[Correction to previous posted, which I'm going to try to delete.]

I’m in this situation but haven’t received any fingerprint request. Do you know why they ask you for that?

Is it just me or there is really tons of dates and names in the history part of that ”Discover Canada” booklet. So far I counted 49 dates and 34 names. I’m getting a bit nervous

Counting how many names and dates is a good way to make yourself nervous, and little purpose as a study technique. If you learn a foreign language, would you look up how many words and expressions there are? You'd never get started.

Just read some of the stuff, do some tests, repeat, look up the stuff you got wrong and read about that. Do it in pieces of you find intimidating, and repeat.

Honestly you can learn enough for the tests in 2-3 weeks of low intensity study for one or two hours a day. Less if you really focus

It took 2-3 weeks after my test to get the fingerprints request. My file was moved from Calgary to Vancouver (IRCC told me via phone) so I think it’s moving slower now.

Thanks for this insight. I'm a Dec applicant and seeing some getting test invites before their BG has cleared... Meanwhile I'm still waiting even though my AOR is before theirs. So very interesting.

Test invite before BG clears is actually bad. It means you're getting a fingerprint request.
