Criminality expires in a year. So for the candidates whoever start giving fingerprints would have to give every year unfortunately, till oath is complete.
So possibly another fingerprint request.
Whether they increase the capacity at cic to process relevant applications(PR, Citizenship etc) is different matter which you can certainly point this problem.
There isn't a standard timeline. Check the spreadsheet to see a ballpark figure of how long it might take. To avoid disappointment, it is best to expect it'll take at least 2 months to receive an oath notification.

With the current situation, the more they take the more our applications get delayed, especially refugees are given priority over normal applicants. I am compassionate to the situation of refugees around the world, but brining them at these times with the huge backlog comes at our expense in terms of processing time. I am not against bringing refugees, but with the current limited capacity IRCC is working with, and the the huge backlog, this means more delay for us. I am stating facts. Not giving my political opinion.
The minister of immigration said yesterday that the immigration target number for 2021 will be met. This means 2021 applications will be given priority over older applicants like us because (probably) the target number for 2019 has already been met. How disappointing to know for sure how they operate, and that we are officially the Forgotten Applicants
Suppose IRCC are spying on us on what we say here, and I assume this isn't impossible mission if they put some resources, although I would be surprised with their limited capacity in processing applications nowadays. Do you think they can punish us for saying things (like they are inefficient or incompetent) by delaying our applications more, for example, or they would take it in the spirit of free speech in a democratic country?
