23/Feb/2016 --> background check in progress
2/Mar/2016 --> PPR
5/Mar/2016 --> sent passports
11/Mar/2016 --> decision made
12/Mar/2016 --> received passports

CSE == Case Specific Enquiry
I long heard about it from express entry applicants. They use it to check the status of their application even if there is no change on MyCIC website. Though, I have never used it.

However, the guys I know did it through thrid-parties (I think immigration lawyers) against charge.

I don't quite catch what you mean. However, I sent my scanned documents online with my APR back on 12/Nov/2015
Also, I sent my passport to the local visa office by regular mail upon PPR back on 5/Mar/2016
