Hi every one my question is I live in UK and my visa office is London I get my documents certified by solicitor because notary public is very expensive here I like to know is this sufficient or it must be get done by notary public the solicitor put the following things on photo copies to certify them. This is to certify that this is the true copy of original document. His company name as idriss and co solicitors his address phone number date and signature. Some one please suggest me on this either it is sufficient or not because I just check the instruction guide and find out people authorised to notarised and certify the documents out side the Canada does not have solicitor listed in them as well as London visa office instruction says notarised documents is there any different between notarised documents and what I have done . Thanks
People authorized to certify copies include the following:
Outside Canada:
a judge
a magistrate
a notary public
a commissioner authorized to administer oaths in the country in which the person is livin.
Solicitor is not in the list. so Notarize it by a notary public.
Notary public use a special Seal/sticker(usually red in colour).
can you find out if a solicitor is authorized to administer oaths in that country?
all solicitors are not public notaries, so solicitor will not work....( i am not 100% sure)
u should find an oath commissionor which is cheaper
some public notaries charge by the hour £100-£200/hour, while some charge a fixed amount for the first document say £80-£100 and all remaining documents at £5-£10.
Which city r u in?

Is a JP (Justice of the Peace) a notary public? Can JPs certify my documents for the visa office?
I think it depends on the area. According to wikipedia:
Justices of the Peace in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont have the same general oath-giving powers as a notary public.
I am in Leicester UK could some one suggest cheap way out here in leicester. But I know that solicitors are authorised to certify the documents here in Uk.

Most solicitors in UK administer oaths as well, so check with ur solicitor if they administer oaths and if so than your certification is ok.
Notary Public
Solicitor
Barrister
Legal Executive
Licensed Conveyancer
Hi guys I find out that under English/British law above professionals are authorised to administer the OATHS in UK and all solicitors have power to act as a commissioner for OATH does this mean my certification is correct and I do not need to go to the notary public for this .
Second thing my solicitor stamp the each and every document saying . This is the true copy of original document and his name as a iddris and co solicitor his address, phone number date and signature is this sufficient or he has to stamp the documents as OATH commissioner please advise. Thanks
IN INDIA ONLY NOTARY ATTESTED
