Hey guys,
Are post-doc fellows eligible to apply for Permanent Residence?
If yes, which category are you guys applying under?
And how much work experience is required to become eligible?
It would depend on what Skill Level you will apply under NOC 0, A, or B.
For NOC 0, A, you would need a minimum score of "6" or CLB 7 for all four categories in order to be qualified.
For NOC B, you would need a minimum CLB of "5" for all four categories to qualify.
So depends on what job you will obtain, the IELTS qualification varies.

I am in a similar position. My application was returned because I didn't have any teaching duties. I had applied in NOC4011. All those who made it work, what is the trick to it?
I am thinking of getting a letter from my PI stating that I assist in training of graduate and undergraduate students in lab and sending back the application. Not sure, how good that would be because CIC won't reply within 60 days and I am assuming, it won't accept anymore applications after that since the cap will be reached.
Need some pointers from those who were successful, please help ! :'(

Did they refuse the application or did the send you fairness letter? If the application has been refused, than you can try different now code which reflects your research job.

I am a post doc in Electrical Engineering from Ryerson and became a PR two weeks back.
I used the NOC code 2133 (Electrical and Electronics Engineers) because 4011 had no match with my duties. I added the contract letter which described what is expected of me like performing simulations, experiments etc.
Yes, definitely get a letter from your PI on university letterhead describing your duties and send that letter to CIC. Have you had any prior teaching experience? If so, add that too. Though CEC only looks for Canadian experience, it might help to show that you have taught before and are continuing now.
I am postdoc fellow and working as a Microbiologist. As per your previous discussion I understand that though being a postdoc in NOC 4011 it is better to use the NOC of our speciality.
The duties of NOC 2121 more suitable for me since it describe the dutiese of Microbiologist. I am plannnig to use current occupation as Microbiologist instead of postdoctoral Fellow in my generic form and reference letter.
However on my work permit it is written that University professor in the occupation section.
As I am planning to submit my application this month last (November), I would like to confirm this with you. Should I use NOC 4011 or 2121. will the occupation given in the work permit make any problem if i use code 2121.
I am in the similar situation...About to create my EE profile....I have a Ph.D. in chemistry, after which I worked as a Research Associate in a CSIR project (1 year and 8 months) followed by a three-year postdoc...What would u suggest me to use as my NOC...2112 (chemist) or 4012 or 4011...Realy getting confused...
