Hey Guys,

In regards to the description of NOC 2282:

User Support Technician
Technicians in this group provide first-line technical support to computer users experiencing difficulties with computer hardware and with computer applications and communications software. They are employed by computer hardware manufacturers and retailers, software developers, in call centres and in information technology units throughout the private and public sectors. Technicians in this group are also employed by independent technical support companies or they may be self-employed.

Does this mean that only tech support jobs related to computer hardware/software is valid for noc2282?
Can a tech support job for, lets say, an alarm company or a thermostat company qualify under this noc?
eg of job description: ecobee's customer support representative (sorry I cant post links)

Thanks for the advise

You can better ask them on email. id- NC-NOC-CNP-GD2@hrsdc-rhdcc.gc.ca

Provide them all the details as below and they will reply in a weeks time:

- the exact job title;
- a detailed description of the main duties;
- the education and work experience required by the employer for entry into the occupation; and
- the type of establishment in which the work is performed.
