Dont they send instructions email first then update in portal? just wondering. my LPP completed on 15th, waiting for next step.

Not sure.. Just checked I still haven't received the instruction yet but the tracker has been updated

I emailed NIagra about my travel till march 16, My LPP got updated on january 4th. I hope they send me oath after 16th.

Today, I emailed the Niagara office to inquire about my and my family's oath ceremony. My husband needs to plan a work trip, and I requested information about whether we'll have the ceremony within the next month. This is the answer:
"Thank you for your email. You and your family have been scheduled for a ceremony in less than a month, you will be receiving the invitations with more information regarding the ceremony closer the scheduled date.
We advise not to make travel plans until you have attended the oath ceremony and your application has been closed.
Ensure you are monitoring your inbox and junk mail for your invitation."

Two hours after that email I received the letter with the instructions on how to download the e-certificate. The Citizenship ceremony has not not started yet.

As of late it appears to be just over a month from LPP to oath ceremony, give or take a week. Most people seem to be receiving their notice to appear within 2-4 weeks of LPP being completed.

How do I tell them I cannot attend oath.

When you receive your invitation to the oath ceremony ("Notice to appear"), there will be instructions contained within the invitation for what to do if you will be outside of Canada at the time of the ceremony.

Mine said the following:

By participating in this video oath ceremony, you confirm that you, and any family members associated
to your application, will be taking the Oath of citizenship in Canada. If you are not currently in
Canada, contact us as soon as possible in order that we reschedule your ceremony.

The "contact us" portion directs to the email address that I would use in the event that I needed to tell them that I was outside of the country.
