“People who might be exempt include: essential workers, people moving essential goods, those who live in trans-border communities and people receiving medical care non-related to COVID-19.“ - globalnews.ca
I don’t see int’l students here soooo we are not exempt
Just got off a call with a CBSA Agent who clearly said that the new $2000 rule hasn't been implemented yet and they aren't sure when it will be.
I just hope I can save $2000. That's like a third of my tuition fee, per semester.

I know right. Might as well add $200 for Misc expenses.
It's ambiguous at this point just like the Oct 20th DLI list. All they say are government-approved hotels - more than $2000 - testing and precautions.
IMO, they should have worried about the spreading a while ago during the winter break when everyone was roaming all around the country like crazy like it's their last days of life and they will not get to breathe again.
This doesn’t say that international students will be exempt. If you are an international students I would be planning on having to do the hotel quarantine. It would make no sense to exempt such a large number of people coming from all over the world.
These are the exemptions to the arrivals testing we were discussing in this mornings meeting - under the question who is required to be tested:
Travellers exempt from testing:
1. Children who are four (4) years of age and younger
2. International travellers connecting to a Canadian destination outside Ontario (without leaving the airport premises)
3. International travellers arriving in Toronto via a domestic flight (e.g. Hong Kong-Vancouver-Toronto)
4. Air Crew, including pilots, flight attendants, maintenance personnel, or other employee of a commercial airline in the course of employment
