Does anyone know if I have to apply for a pr visa or if it will be given to me with my sponsorship application? I'm currently waiting for pr portal credentials.
I know they start your pr card application but what about pr visa?
That depends on whether you're inland or outland (and by that I mean not just the application type but are you actually inside or outside Canada)?
Inland applicants applying under the spouse/common-law partner in-Canada class do not need a PR visa since you're already in Canada and your "landing" will be done virtually where you'll get an electronic COPR.
If you received PR confirmation portal email, I assume you're inside Canada?

Please can someone tell why there is an expiry date on eCOPR for CEC folks and what does it mean? Like most of folks here, I am CEC candidate and got my eCOPR from the portal and it have expiry date mentioned in which is around 10 months from now. I understand that ideally i should be getting the PR card before that. On one hand I read in few places that COPR never expires and we have an expiry date in it. Does it mean this document is of no use after that date? What if for some reason a person dont receive PR card by that date?
Yes, once you become a PR you do not need a visa to re-enter Canada. Or any permits to study/work etc.
If you do decide to travel BEFORE you receive your PR card but AFTER your eCOPR - you will need to apply for a PR travel document (PRTD) from the country that you're in before you can re-enter Canada. This is a risky option since PRTD processing times can vary greatly from one country to the next especially during Covid.
Have a read here for more info on this: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...rvices/new-immigrants/pr-travel-document.html
Waiting for PR card after eCOPR. Got my eCOPR on 21st June. No update on PR card from then. Photo still in review and PR card application in submitted status. Anyone else in same boat? Any update on this?

I would love to hear from others on this too .... I received eCOPR on May 28th and am awaiting PR card..... my partner received his PR card though a couple of days ago though and in the portal his photo shows as 'under review' still, so looks like that doesn't always get updated.

eCOPR/COPR usually has an expiry date on it to facilitate the landing process for CBSA - this is also done so IRCC has an idea on how many new PRs they have approved and how many people they can expect to land and finish the PR process.
During covid, with the new PR confirmation portal if you're an inland applicant - that date does not really apply to you. I've read in other forums that it might just be a remnant from the old COPR template. Choose to believe whatever you want - you don't need to worry about the expiry date. I'm sure your PR card will arrive before that time.
Check the processing time here: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...vices/application/check-processing-times.html
or in your IRCC portal if you have linked your PR card application online.

I did not get the portal email at all. I went against instructions ( Would not advise anyone to risk) and created a portal myself after 3 weeks delay. Well finally today sunday 4th I received my eCOPR on the same portal.
