In my opinion also, meeting people and joining government funded organisation for volunteering jobs one must go ahead and they really help a lot. I know people who joined these and got their first jobs from these organisations only.

Madhava, this information is helpful indeed. Thanks for your inputs. I have started doing the homework of networking!! I have received positive response from couple of them. The first thing what I did was gathering my own contacts and check whether they have any referrals. I have floated my resume me through them (modified). Their first advice is to do the landing and be eligible to work. Per their advice, firstly, I should be ready to work as Temp. Accountant and later they absorb into their operationals.

Hoping for good. But this little hope is enough in the initial stage.

Hi S_haque, usually you'll have a separate forms for the primary applicant and for spouse.

Hey Madhava, i moved here on the 30th april. Intended to write to the forum about my experiences. But i guess you said it all and so well.

I tried for a job for about a month and the feeling of digging into my savings was not too good. I met up with somebody who introduced me to join his brokerage as a licensed mortgage agent. I did have to shell out nearly $ 2000 to get the license. However, i guess that helped me so much. The borkerage has really kick started my earning. I could do nearly 3 mortgages in the first month. It made me about $ 7300. I did have to work hard for it, but, it was better than digging into my savings and only sending resumes that hardly get responses.

I am still applying for jobs in my mainstream profession. However, i am at a lot more ease now as the cash flow has started. I also intend to continue with doing mortgages even after getting a good job, as loads of people get laid off. This will be a perfect buffer. However, now i am enjoying it.

So, i guess, we just have to find creative ways of moving ahead till we get the job we want.

Glad to hear that you are doing well. I am gradually settling down.

Finished attending a two week Job Search Workshop organized by a Govt funded agency. Next is to find a job through them and the leads they provide. Hope to get a break soon.

I think this may work for some people but think about 250,000 people. If every person out of these 250,000 remove his her accent, does Canada really have many high level jobs so those 250,000 people can get those jobs? Always some will suffer that's why I think this guy forgetting the factor of luck and treating everybody at same page and that's why I don't believe in this guy nor in his preachings. Shantanu, the CEO of Adobe, Sabeer Bhatia, the Hotmail.com's daddy-Both speak exactly same indianized english and but are extremely successful. You cannot avoid the factor of luck and if luck will be available for every immigrant then luck will not remain luck but will become Ration Card so everybody can have it.

And the real number is extremely high 250,000 people are the only coming in one year but reality is that immigrant arrived in last three year also struggling for same good jobs since thier arrival in Canada so number is close to 250K + 250K + 250K + 250K = 1000,000 (1 million people) Now does Canada really have 1000,000 good quality jobs which people are trying to get?? Every immigrant with B.com degree would like become accountant, Banker or Investment manager and if 500,000 people who somehow managed to remove thier accent and sound exactly like Canadian, will those 500K people get those jobs?? of course not?? because where the hell 500K jobs paying 50K salary are in the market?
So Bottomline is that one has to deliver pizza or wash dishes or work at 7-Eleven in night shift no matter Mr. Nick Noorani says. I am criticizing Mr. Nick Noorani because his preachings are way from reality and make immigrant more broken.

I too started as a telemarketer. Not ashamed of it. I am confused how a motivational speech would make an immigrant 'more broken'!!!

my problem is that i have given wrong NOC code in skilled worker file....i have kept my file before 4 years.....

all my duties are absolutely ok ...and i have 71 points to qualify for PR file.

now i am working as plant incharge and i aquire manufacturing manager NOC code....
can i have to update now????...but i did not get any corrospondence.

pl....guide me.....

Nice to hear from you.

As far as amount is concerned, there is no minimum or maximum.

Visa debit card is safe, but on the longer run you must open a Bank account in any of the Canadian banks to start your transactions.

1. Carry money in the form of Travelers cheques and some cash (within limits permitted by Indian Customs).
2. On landing I walked into a nearby bank, and deposited my cheques and cash. Got an ATM card from them and started using it.
3. Please note, the Travelers Cheques or Draft on depositing might take anywhere between 7 to 21 business days to be cleared.
4. You must check with the bank first in person before depositing, as to how long do they take to clear overseas drafts/TCs.
5. We may not be in a position to wait for 21 working days to get our money, so it gives you a choice to go with that bank or not.
6. I would suggest go with a bank which transfers your money within a short time.
7. I do not have much information about Calgary.
8 To my knowledge any job will pay not less than 10.25 (Ten dollars and Twenty Five cents) per hour, that's the minimum wage.
9. Getting a job depends on a variety of factors such as the location, condition of the job market, etc.
10. Job market is slightly better now.

I hate her, I have gone to her three times and she acts so b-----. I always refer our clients to Asha Behl. SHe is far much better, Malkit Law and her staff are so rude.

I Agreee with you. Please avoid Dr Malkit Law. She is extremely Rude, sarcastic and lacks the basic ethics requried by doctors.The looks that she gives you is certainly to makes you feel comletely unwanted and inferior in her clinic.I had a very bad experience interacting with her for my Australia Visa medical checks. I woudlnt even go to her for a basic medical test ever again, it is as if she makes you feel that the entire visa decision is in her hands and we are completely dependant on her.
