Mine was a fairly atypical case. I've already been here for a year on a work permit so neither did I have to declare any goods that I was importing nor were the formalities very cumbersome.
I only had with me, my passport and the COPR that ND had mailed. After getting my check in luggage, I was told to go to the immigration officer, who asked whether any of my details had changed on the COPR. He then asked me to sign in a few places and I was done.

Dear Sriram,
Vanakkam and Congratulations! Can you guide us about what documents you took with you and mention in brief about the formalities at the airport? It will be a great help to all in the forum.
More than the immigration officer, you need to consider how much you need to get started in Canada for the first few months. I think there is a limit of CAD 10,000 as cash that you can carry. I maybe mistaken but I recall seeing that number in some declaration forms.
Typical rent in GTA costs about $1500 pm for a two bedroom. Add another $400 pm for food and groceries for a family of two. Utilities can come to around $200 pm in an apartment. If your plans include buying a car, you also need to consider cost of the vehicle, insurance (~$300 pm) and gas ($200 pm) depending on how much you travel. Other costs will include furniture, clothes etc.
If you don't have any ties here in Canada, CAD 10,000 would be a good starting point.

So here is the situation - I am sponsor and my wife is principal applicant.
Additional family form has my name as spouse, no children, her parents and brother / sisters information on this form.
Now I will get 1 additional family information form from her - hand filled in English and in punjabi right below it for all her family. Do I need to fill up this form as well Or does every family member of hers need to fill out separate forms.. So I just had brain freeze after reading the letter from CIC.. Your help is really appreciated
PCC is completely different than BC/SC. PCC is moreover like a proof of residence in that area nothing more than that but BC and SC consist of your criminal history, work history, participation and part of any organisation/group, Military records and other govt services. before they issue your visa, they need to make sure that you are not a threat for Canada or Canadians
hope it helps
okk i thought PCC have all of it so it means it will dealy my case bcz of travel history any idea how long it will take after pp with travel history i send pp on 19 sept and ecas still says application received
Hi Folks there,
I dont know whether all who got their visa are aware or not. The Scoatia bank is allowing to open account in canada when you are in India(Before landing in Canada). You can visit any scoatia bank or Kotak mahindra bank. This scheme is open to limited braches only so kindly visit website of Scoatia bank and go to new commers section in personal banking. And beleive me rate is also cheap when you compare to any other bank's travellers cheque or draft or currancy including all charges. i find effective rate is 55.19 rs per CAD.
Only thing you need to bring with you is copr and passport both original required for verification and nothing else. Your account will open in canada and you will receive account opening package here in india and once you reach canada you can activate account by visiting any scoatia bank branch. You can also show fund balance to immigration officer.
Dont worry about the PPR mail, did u chk yr spam mail , yr applicants mail box
Even manorite got the PPR mail very late , so dont worry.
Just wait, n yeah dont send more queries to CIC. May be it will delay.
All d best
Thank you for the reply. The email id we sent was of consultant. So i guess they will be the ones receiving the mails. We are calling them regularly for updates, but there is nothing as of now. We have decided not to mail/call CIC anymore. Patience is the key. But sometimes its difficult. Not because of time taken, but because of the randomness of the whole thing.
(Coming from some other post, I do not have any travel history either.)
