I hopeee ND is not busy in giving out Study Visa.....

But On their website, here what they say:

Certain categories of applications, such as those for:
•sponsored spouses;
•partners; and
•dependent children

are processed more quickly than others in order to meet public policy goals such as that of family reunification.

You can go to MP office, and let them know about your problem and request them to enquire about your file status from ND on your behalf. I am sure he will give you some solution.

(BTW;Which part of calgary sponsor lives)

Yes, you can (but try to go to your area MP).

Normally, its recommended that you should not ask for your passport back untill your whole process is done as it will delay your case.
But in case its an emergency, You can send an email to ND requesting them to send your passport back and mention that you will be submitting it again at final stage. If possible, do mention the reason.

You mean they have been holding onto you pp for 4 months now ? How long have you been 'in process'

My status is still application received .. I was asked for additional docs on August 20th ..but no reply or status update has been made after that .

I have 3 years of travel history. As I work in US and visited india couple of times and my husband in canada. I sent my passport to india with an authorized person and stayed back in canada . My visitor stay will be ending soon and I would need my passport back to maintain my legal status. This worries me a lot and I need help from anyone who have been in same situation and managed to find a way out.

I guess you should order GCMS notes, atleast you will know whats happening on your file.
