Neighborhoods to Move To

I'm just about committed to moving to Toronto because things in America are rancid right now. Right now my top neighborhood pick is Bayview Woods-Steeles. It's no more expensive than where I currently live, maybe slightly more affordable especially with the exchange rate. It seems to have just about everything I'm looking for based on what I've read (safe, strong Jewish community {one of my mom's priorities for me}, abundant in the kinds of shops and restaurants I like, just the right distance from the city centre for me). Can anyone from or near there tell me if it's as good a neighborhood as it seems, or if there's another neighborhood near Toronto that may be a better fit?

I assume you have the necessary authorization to live in Canada, permanent resident or Canadian citizen..

I don't have any authorization or set plans yet, but I've been researching where I'd want to move to once I have the money and permanent residency authorizations and whatnot

I see.. it might take years, not weeks. A lot can happen in any neighborhood.

Oh I know I expect this kind of thing to take a few or more years, especially since I'm still living at home and don't have the money to move out even in my own state (I'm in new Jersey). I was just wondering if people have any opinion on Bayview Woods-Steeles like if it's had a relatively consistent quality of life based on safety, cost of renting a 1-2 bedroom apartment, that kinda stuff

That’s still in the city , but suburbs . Are you looking for outer outer suburbs , like Markham, Vaughn, Mississauga ?
I’ve lived in Toronto since 1989, that area up north has from my memory always remained the same in quality

I’ve lived in Toronto since 1989, that area up north has from my memory always remained the same in quality

A suburban type of area without much noise would def be nice. I'm a huge fan of Asian groceries and restaurants, and I saw Bayview Woods-Steeles is full of them! If I can't get an apartment directly in Bayview Woods-Steeles, I could probably settle for an apartment in a neighboring town or something

UPDATE

After a bit more research, I'm starting to think Thornhill is a better option! It's only about 10 minutes from Bayview Woods-Steeles, and it seems to be slightly more affordable with more available housing!
