Because they really badly want citizenship. Look at the posts in this forum. So many of them are people obsessing with their application, current timelines, etc. Freaking out over every detail. People check eCAS every day - sometimes multiple times a day. they obviously place a premium on getting citizenship.
Just spoke to CIC Call center and they looked at my file and indeed confirmed my travel dates entered, but not sure why they scheduled it during that time. Anyone knows Calgary IRCC office phone numbers?
