Hi guys,

I am in Canada with the “implied status” since August 2011. My WHV (Working Holiday Visa) has expired in August 2011 and I have submitted my application for PR + open work visa at the same time.

Unfortunately, my mother is very sick and I have to go back to France ASAP ( I will stay probably for a few months & then come back to Canada)
I know that I take a risk if I leave Canada since I will NOT be able to work again when I come back in until my application is processed.

Also, we re-rentering Canada (as a visitor I guess), I would like to make sure I have ALL documentation necessary for the customs agent to let me in (ie. Hoping the she/he will understand my personal emergency and let me back in without any pbs).

Does anybody on this forum know more about this ?

Should I bring copies of the below with me ?

-Expired WHV
-Receipt of payment for PR + open work visa
-Copy of my 2 applications (PR + open work visa)
-Letter of my mum’s doctor to explain severity of her illness

Thanks so much in advance !

Generally, it is not recommended that Inland applicants not leave the country until processing is complete. If you are a French citizen, you are visa exempt and run a lower risk of not being re-admitted to Canada on your return, however. It is not guaranteed, though. Having copies of the mentioned documents might be handy, yes.

You should note that your implied status loses effect once you leave the country, and you will not be able to resume work, as you are already aware.

Hello! I phoned cic call centre to ask about the same situation. The agent said it's always a risk going out of Canada especially when you applied inland. Even if you have necessary papers it will depend on the immigration officer at the point of entry... They will check the computer ofcourse and enter your client id# and if they find out that you have an INLAND application that would be a red flag.... but it depends on you as well, how you will explain it. and tell the officer " don't you have a mom? let's change situations," ... I hope they will have a heart! I know it is so hard to be in a situation like this! :(

Goodluck!
