Need to know if I can apply with Old Passport number and later change it.

Hi

I ma planning to apply for Canada PR in another 1 month but 2 days back I applied for New passport as my Passport is expiring soon. Is it advisable to apply the PR with the Old Passport number ? If I apply with the Old Passport then when and how can I change to the New passport ?

It is always best to include a copy of a passport that will not expire for atleast 1-2 years.. If you submit your application with a copy of a passport that will expire befor the VISA is granted the VISA office is going to want you to send in a copy of a new passport..the key word in the application is " copy of a valid passport'... I think you can submit it as it is, but it will for sure delay the process for you...if I were you I will get my passport renewed and then submit....better be safe than sorry.

If the concern is that getting a new passport will take a long time..then you might want to submit it as it is...is there any way you can get a new passport in a day or a week..might have to pay more..but in the long run will save you time and hassle for sure.

Go ahead and apply with a copy of the old passport. Once you get your new passport, send them a cover letter explaining them the change in your application (your new passport) and send them a notarized copy of the new passport.
