Can someone please share their experience in obtaining SIN number on Study Permit. As per new regulation by CIC Study permits issued after June 01, 2014 would NOT require a CONFIRMATION LETTER from CIC to obtain SIN.
So what that basically means in I can take my study permit to Service Canada and request a SIN.
1. Has anyone faced any issues with this new process?
2. Does the study permit needs to have specific language on it something like "...may work in Canada".?
3. Does new study permits have this line "Unless authorized prohibited from engaging in employment" ?. If that's the case does Service Canada Still issues the SIN.
4. Is there something that I can do at POE and ask Visa officer for any special instruction on study permit?
Looking forward to responses from students who have landed in Canada after June 01, 2014.
At POE you will be issued a Studt Permit where it will be mentioned that you are allowed to work part time i.e. 20 hours.
Take your documents to the nearest Service Canada office and you will be issued a SIN no within 5-10 minutes its a hassle free process.
I over heard that they provide SIN at POE but that dint happened in my case.
