Congrats! You are lucky you didn't have to go through the hell I went through. I'm glad.
Congratulations
Hi there,
Its been more than three years since my spouse quit working as RN. Now, She would like to initiate NNAS.Is it good to go ahead or she needs recent work experience.
Really appreciate your response
Hello everyone. I have been off grid for a while. so as some may know I started the process with the NNAS on August 2016. I had some delays but all outstanding documents were submitted by June 2017. My status changed to ready for review 3 times between may to June ending 2017.
Last August the NNAS sent me an email that my file will expire November 11th. All my docs were submitted so I didn't worry. I however did call to make sure and was assured all was well.
In November 23rd I received an email saying that documents submitted by my school did not meet the requirements.
I didn't understand because these documents were submitted since May 2017 and my status for them changed to meets requirements. Less than a week after that email my file was closed and I now have to pay to reactivate my account.
I have been really discouraged by this entire experience. Of I had not invested so much O would have withdrawn.
I tried to appeal, called multiple times, asked to speak to manager, no luck.
So am just going to reactivate this week and submit what they've asked for.
So sorry for the long reply.

Recent work experience. There are some provinces that set the limit at 5 years, however getting through NNAS and the entire licensing process is likely to take up to 2 years so it's too risky to start without working as a nurse. She should get a nursing job wherever she is licensed and then start the NNAS process.

What did the manager say when you spoke to them? NNAS states that accounts only close after one year if the applicant has made no move on the account. Meaning they have not interacted with NNAS or sent in any documents. But if you submitted documents in June 2017, that would be the last official activity on your account and that is less than one year. They should have also been documenting your call in August. I'd call and talk to a manager again and ask if that call in August was documented and if the forms submitted in June were documented as having been received in June. This is completely insane and if this is their tactic, they are probably doing this to many people in order to get more money. I would also write to James Mandel at the Office of the Fairness Commissioner (if you are applying to nurse in Ontario) just to let him know that the process is unfair and why. He cannot intervene on your behalf but the more complains he receives, the more he is obligated to look into this whole ridiculous system.
I'm sorry this has happened to you. It's so unethical.

Hello
My education form was filled out and send to NNAS from my Nursing School. They were trying to contact my school for verification. They told me that they didn't get any verification mail.So my process is pending. Is there anything that we can do?

Did you call your school and ask if they verified your education?

Yes, I did it many times. It seems they are totally irresponsible in it.They told me that they didn't get any information.Totally perplexed ,as my application is about to expire in March.

The same thing happened to my friend too.Her problem was with one of the her foreign nursing council, where she worked a year ago.Her status shown Meet requirements,at last after few months they informed documents needed additional information. As resigned and returned to home land,it was a Herculean task. She spend thousands to solve the issue.

I was never able to speak to a manager. Each time I was told I cannot be transferred. I really dont understand the NNAS. One of my colleagues was allowed to submit documents via email to the person assigned to her file. Another has a 'case worker' who calls to follow up, and responds directly to any queries she may have. So I guess its not one size fit all!

Yes they really are not consistent in how they deal with customers. I've heard the same. Some have reviewers who let them know if they are missing something, rather than assess the education without it. I was able to talk to a manager when I demanded it and said I would wait on the line rather than them call me back in two weeks. Others are unable to ask to talk to a manager. It's ridiculous and also an Office of the Fairness Commissioner issue since not everyone is being treated equally and fairly. They will argue that since it's a private company it has nothing to do with Province of Ontario. But I say that CNO is more than aware of these issues, so it is an Office of Fairness Commissioner issue.
All I can suggest is keep calling until they agree to send you to a manager. You paid the same amount as everyone else.

Hey an update. Remember i wrote CNO some months ago. They replied maybe 3 weeks ago, asked for police record and proof of English language. I sent back same. The letter stated that my education is still under review and that i have met the jurisdiction requirements and my practice hours expire next November 2019 and i met the requirement to work in canada.
So back to waiting

By "jurisdiction requirements" do you mean that you passed the Jurisprudence exam?
So, I guess it's the education response you are waiting for. This is insane! They have processed so many others who applied after you. Incredible.
