My Wife Visiting Canada While PR is in Process?

I've heard that spouses who are being sponsored as permanent residents are free to visit Canada during the process. How likely would it be that my wife would be granted a visitor visa during the PR process, and is there anyone here who has had their spouse visit them in Canada during the PR process? Thanks.

If your wife is from a visa-exempt country, it's usually no problem. She will be let in at the border most of the times.
If she is from a non-visa-exempt country, the unfortunately it's quite unlikely that she will be granted a visitor visa - CIC is afraid that spouses won't leave the country if their PR is denied, because the main tie (family) is in Canada.
So if your wife can show very strong ties to her home country when applying, she might be lucky and get a visa. Worth a try - but the vast majority gets denied. It doesn't affect your PR application though.

I know a few people who did get a visitors visa while their spousal sponsorship application is in process. Need to show strong ties and reasons like it is important to develop our relationship.

Hi Jim, my American partner has come to visit me regularly, usually for a month or two at a time, since we filed our application. At some point they asked him for a proof of income or support from me, a letter from me saying that he will stay with me while in Canada and a proof that he bought private health insurance for his stay. Then the immigration officer (because he is always sent to Immigration at the border) tells him how long he is allowed to stay before returning to the U.S. It worked great, but now that we got our PPR, he is staying home in the U.S. until he receives his confirmation of permanent residence.

Any requirements they might have are at their discretion; they might ask for different things or nothing at all. One thing to remember is that if they express a concern to your wife, then she should make sure to satisfy all their requirements the next time she crosses.

Im planning to get a Visitors visa this coming march while were waiting for the Processing of my papers. Hopefully they grant me a visa for 6 months. Ill update you when we sent our application form.
