We are planning to shortly move from Quebec to Ontario.
I had a foreign driving license, based on which I received the Quebec Class 5 license; we will probably move before I complete two years from the issue of my Quebec license.
I understand that I have to transfer the license and car shortly after moving to Ontario, and had some questions:
Do I have to complete two years from the issue of the Quebec license to directly transfer the license skipping the road tests?
(I had already been driving for 6-7 months in Quebec before I was able to even get an appointment for the license; my car was also registered in my name much earlier)
If I have to take a road test, can I take the class G road test, or should I have to go for G2 first?
Does it make sense for my spouse to apply for a Quebec license based on foreign experience just before our move?
Or it would be better to wait till the move and then directly apply in Ontario?
How much time do I have to transfer the driving license and car registration? Is it 30 days, 2 months, or 3 months? Is it a good idea to wait a few months to complete my two years with the Quebec license?
This page says : When you move to Ontario, you can use a valid licence from another province, state or country for 60 days. After 60 days, you need to switch to an Ontario driver’s licence.

I have mentioned in my post that I hold a Quebec license that maybe slightly shy of completing 2 years.
I don’t Think you will have problem with that 2 year thing,
As you told you had foreign driving license, so in this case saaq just added that experience into Quebec license ( because in Quebec they give probationary license for first two years) I had probationary license three months because I had 21 months with foreign driving license, so if you have regular license then you are good to go.

I moved from Quebec to Ontario, I had class 5 license which was only for 4 months. When I try to exchange it in Ontario they said I need atleast 2 years of quebec experience to get G license, so they gave me G2 and asked to book G test. I gave G test and got the license.
I transferred the car within 30 days after moving to Ontario.
2 Year quebec or any province experience is mandatory to get G license. They will not consider the foreign experience. I tried at multiple Drive test center and got same answer.
