Missing Record of Landing/Confirmation of Permanent Residence

Hi all:
I am planning to submit my citizenship application but cannot find my Record of Landing/Confirmation of Permanent Residence. It says on cic website that I need to provide a written explanation. My wife lost her landing paper as well and got a replacement copy when she applied for citizenship two years ago. Do I need to do the same or just need to attach a letter with my application? Anyone knows which way is better/faster?

Might be best to apply for the replacement as you will also need it when you go to the interview after the citizenship test.
