I completed and passed the immigration medical in 2014. More than one year has passed since the exam (and I'm still in the application process), so I'll need to complete another exam soon. My 2014 exam was extremely invasive, more so than--it seems--others' exams. Did the doctor possibly have her own requirements? What was required when you completed your exam?

Not invasive at all.....she mainly asked questions and then checked blood pressure...looked inside my throat...checked my eyes...and x-ray was only top half if your body done with a gown on

I had the most uncomfortable and lengthy pelvic exam ever. I will go elsewhere next time.

I've never heard of a pelvic exam for immigration medical.

I hadn't either until the dr. required that I have a pap smear. It was, apparently, common procedure for her. I'm all for testing for cervical cancer, but I really prefer a doctor I'm comfortable with.

My 4 children and I had ours done this past October. It was not invasive at all. Weight, blood pressure, felt our abdomen and asked a handful of questions. Then we went to a lab for chest x-ray, blood work and urine analyst. I would say the chest x-ray was the most awkward since we had to change out of our clothes and put tape on our nipples LOL

Oh geez!! That would be weird!! I wore a gown for x-ray...it was great...But yeah...OP should go to someone else next time. Her first medical sounds like a bit much

I seriously suggest you file a complaint with CIC against that doctor. That is most definitly not a part of the immigration medical.

It was strange, though I suppose treatments for cervical cancer would end up being a tremendous cost to the healthcare system. She wasn't creepy, or anything. The situation was just uncomfortable; the entire visit felt like something akin to going through a fast food drive-thru (except without pants, etc.).

I won't file a complaint, but I'll definitely go to another doctor for round two.

Again, 100% not required for the immigration medical. If this doctor told you it needed to be done, she flat out lied to you and made you undergo an invasive exam for no reason.

I suggest you file the complaint so that this doesn't happen to any other women who go to her for the medical.

Panel Doctors are selected by CIC and have a program decided by CIC that they are supposed to follow. Definitely report her as she is going beyond the protocol and should not be doing this in my opinion.

hi everyone totally different question. wondering if you can help?

did you all do an upfront medical? if not ,did you 1st wait for CIC to send a request? iwas pregnant when we sent through our application, so i couldn't do the x-ray so i decided not to do the other things. so ican do a full medical after birth.

i now have my uci, my question is, can i do it before the request or should i wait?

thank you
